A Couple’s Perspective of Winter Party Festival

Doug and I have been together for 16 years. We have been going to Winter Party Festival for 11 of those years. Our first was in 2000 and even in the early days, this event stood out and got us hooked. We were living in Boston then and it was always so nice to escape all of the nasty winter weather to fun, sun, and meeting so many people- many of which we're still friends with today. Two years later, we left behind that nasty winter weather in Boston and moved to Miami Beach.

Winter Party has stood out to us because of how dedicated and welcoming the volunteers are. So much so, that Doug and I wanted to be part of it and help. We wound up volunteering in various capacities for Winter Party Festival for 6 years. In doing so, we continued to meet so many new people and make more friends. Winter Party Festival is one of those events that draws visitors from around the world and leads to so many of our friends being in once place at the same time. So, why have we continued to go for so many years? Besides it being in our own back yard (finally), it is simply a family reunion of sorts; a family of friends not only from the US, but around the world.

For some, it might be just another party. For us, it is a time for reconnecting and sharing so many great memories that we have had over the years. It is our family reunion. And with half the country digging out of winter, who doesn’t want sun, sand, beaches and amazing “sightseeing” as the backdrop to their family reunion?
