Winter Party Blogs

Can’t wait until February 29th to start celebrating the hottest winter in the world? Fear not! Every year, our communications committee sets up kick off parties all over the world to get the buzz going – literally. We feel that the best way to give you a feel for what you can expect from our events is to reach out to you in your own communities. We work with club owners to become ambassadors for our festival and connect us with you, our guests, before you hit the sand on Miami Beach. Event dates and locations can be found on our events page under the ‘kick-offs’ tab.

Leading the pack of not-to-be-missed nights of the 2012 Winter Party Festival will be Boiling Point: Rome is Burning, on Sunday, March 4. Be there as we transform Miami’s ever-popular Cameo into Ancient Rome. HOT Italian dancers will be dressed in fall-of-Rome attire -- andwe’re encouraging our guests to do the same! Winter Party veteran Alyson Calagna will join Gay Village resident DJ Giangi Cappai for this epic night of unforgettable music.

Doug and I have been together for 16 years. We have been going to Winter Party Festival for 11 of those years. Our first was in 2000 and even in the early days, this event stood out and got us hooked. We were living in Boston then and it was always so nice to escape all of the nasty winter weather to fun, sun, and meeting so many people- many of which we're still friends with today. Two years later, we left behind that nasty winter weather in Boston and moved to Miami Beach.

Chad RichterIt’s that time of year again! Who else looks forward to winter like us Miamian’s? I have to tell you I usually look so forward to the Beach Party that I often lose sight of all the other great events on our lineup. There is just so much to do!

Joe GauthreauxWe are ecstatic to have DJ Gauthreaux headlining the Winter Party Beach Party this year. As many of you know, our beach party is one of the biggest – and certainly the hottest – parties in the world. We can expect everything from house, progressive rhythms, tribal drums or electro funk from the legendary DJ/Producer.

On behalf of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Winter Party Festival Committee, I would like to thank you for your continued support of our efforts to put together an amazing event and raise money for wonderful organizations on a local and national level. We get a lot of questions about what goes into putting together an event of this magnitude every year and we figure the best way to explain it would be to give you an insider’s look at what goes on behind the scenes.

We are very happy to report that we will be presenting The Miami Foundation with our annual donation of the proceeds from The 14th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner and Winter Party Festival 2011 this Thursday, June 23rd at Bacardi Headquarters in Coral Gables. Check back soon for photos and highlights from the event.
